Weather in Ibiza Town - Ibiza
The Ibiza Town is known more than ever a cosmopolitan city were every one feels welcome and at home, which accounts for the amazing increase of foreign residents in the town, making a total population of about 38.000. The Ibicencos are not just tolerant with people from different countries but also of different religions (there have been no religious disputes in over a 100 years), as well as different ways of dressing making it a Hippy Oasis in the 60's and there are still a few left)or a different sexual orientation. La Calle de la Virgen is probably the best example of homosexuals feeling at home you will find anywere.
For those more interested in history than fashion, the oldest part of Ibiza Town, the walled town of Dalt Vila, set on a hill, will be of more interest. This region has been designated a World Heritage Site and contains the Museu Arqueologic d’Eivissa i Formentera, which tells the history of Ibiza as an island. Also in this area are a castle and the fourteenth century cathedral of Santa Maria de les Neus. Although Ibiza Town has the reputation for being one of the principal resorts for night clubs on the island, it is not as raucous as San Antonio. Nevertheless, many clubs in the town don’t even open until midnight and close around dawn. There are no beaches in Ibiza Town, the nearest being in Playa de Talamanca or Figueretas, both around a ten minute drive away.
